Vehicle Description

1975 Chevrolet Malibu Classic 2 Door Hardtop The third generation Chevelle, ('73-'77), represented a major redesign in the 10 year-old Chevelle model and included some firsts.  Molded foam seats appeared for the first time as did an inside hood release.  Thin A-pillars improved visibility and beefy, fixed B-pillars added strength in case of roll overs.  Flush style door handles diverged from previous models.  Front disc brakes became standard in 1973, as did Federally mandated 5 mph bumpers and side impact guard beams in the doors.  In many ways it was a fully new Chevelle.  For consignment, a 1975 Chevrolet Malibu Classic 2 door hardtop, showing 30,415 miles, unverifiable due to the title reading Mileage Exempt, but there is plenty of evidence that the mileage showing might in fact be accurate on this amazing time capsule.  It's a two owner car with a numbers matching transmission and a correct 350ci V8.  It was garaged and pampered and presents today as a shining example of the malaise period that in 2024, are pretty cool cars to see.  Exterior Fine stewardship and careful driving has resulted in a low mileage car that could have easily just left the Chevrolet showroom, bathed in Medium Orange Metallic with a classy, contrasting black vinyl roof in fantastic condition.  This was common and basic transportation back in the day so 15-inch steel wheels with hubcaps were standard and remain on this car.  A non aggressive vertical front end with its large grille and single headlights is bookended by a decidedly rounded rear decklid with tail lights in the latch panel that are flush by mid-70's standards and supported visually by an arrow straight rear bumper.  The rear window sweeps back, the Colonnade roofline shedding the wind which waterfalls over the trunk while pronounced shoulders flank the fixed rear windows.  The long hood is shaped by the pronounced headlight bezels, creating crevices that trace back to the cowl panel.  Amazing chrome shines brightly on the front bumper and a hood ornament adds color and class to the fascia.  We could not find any glaring imperfections on this well preserved Malibu.  Interior Button backed design covers the mid panel of the door panels which are otherwise black plastic and vinyl and in immaculate condition.  Inside the car, the split bench seat carries the buttons in a subtle column tufted design with lines that flow over the seat lowers as well and a vinyl armrest can be swiveled up to seat a third occupant.  The back bench is also pristine and there's a good chance no one has been back there.  This pedestrian car has faux wood trim on the steering wheel under the horn button that spans across the rim and fronts the shifter on the column.  Faux burl wood dresses up the dashboard which is basic with a capital B, a clock, the speedometer to 100 mph, and a fuel gauge are the only constants while the A/C control panel and AM/FM radio sit museum like in the center.  Plush black carpet covers the floor and rubber mats, front and back, protect the original floor covering.  If brake pedal wear is an indicator of mileage, this one shows very little wear.  The trunk is clean and has a protective mat and spare tire.  Drivetrain Under the hood, the 350ci L65 V8 shows a bit of age, but not wear.  And by that we mean typical surface rust has moved in but hoses, belts, and painted metals look fine.  It's fueled by a 2-barrel carburetor and backed by a numbers matching TH350 3-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the 10 bolt axle in the rear with 2.73 gears.  Power brakes are supplied as discs in front and drums in the rear.   Undercarriage Definitely some age here for this 50 year old car in the form of typical surface rust and a few seals giving up their sealing duties, most notably on the rear differential.  The single exhaust looks newer and intersects a stock style muffler before exiting discreetly in back.  Coil springs are utilize
