Vehicle Description
This 1978 Lincoln Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition is one of 5,159 produced for the model year to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Ford Motor Company, and this example is finished in gold over gold cloth upholstery. The car is powered by a 460ci V8 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, and equipment includes turbine-style alloy wheels, a gold vinyl landau roof, air conditioning, cruise control, a power glass sunroof, power windows and seats, and an AM/FM/eight-track radio. The car is said to have spent time in South Dakota and was acquired by the seller from a friend in early 2022. This Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition shows 65k miles and is offered at no reserve with a clean title in the seller’s name.
Diamond Jubilee Edition Continentals left the factory painted in one of two colors, and this example is finished in Jubilee Gold. Features include chrome bumpers with body-color inserts, hideaway headlights, front fender vents, and a vinyl landau roof with opera windows that show Diamond Jubilee Edition etchings. The the car was refinished under prior ownership.
Silver- and gold-finished turbine-style 15" wheels are mounted with Kelly Springfield Celebrity 235/75 white-striped tires, and a spare is located in a carpeted holder in the trunk. Stopping is handled by four-wheel disc brakes.
The front seats and rear bench are trimmed in tufted gold cloth with matching door panel inserts, while leather upholstery covers the dashboard and center console. Woodgrain trim accents the cabin and amenities include cruise control, air conditioning, power accessories, and a push-button radio with a Quadrasonic eight-track player. Wear is present on the armrest and the left shoulder seatbelt holder is cracked and a portion of the trunk carpeting is worn.
A woodgrain-trimmed steering wheel is equipped with buttons for cruise control and frames an 80-mph speedometer and a Cartier analog clock. Fuel-level and miles-to-empty gauges are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 65k miles. The 460ci V8 was factory rated at 210 horsepower and 357 lb-ft of torque.
