Vehicle Description 1984 Ford LTD Crown Victoria 4 Door Sedan Ford's full size sedans are built in the tradition of fine road cars. There's room for six passengers in a luxurious, quiet environment. Plus, plenty of space for your luggage in the deep well trunk. Electronic fuel injected V8 power with gas saving Automatic Overdrive transmission is standard. All this in a car that's exceptionally smooth over any road. The LTD Crown Victoria 2 door and 4 door sedan for 1984. From the 1984 brochure which opens with Ford's idiom, At Ford, Quality is Job 1 and a letter from the company's president in which quality is mentioned is each of the eight paragraphs. For consignment, a 1984 Ford LTD Crown Victoria 4 door sedan showing 61,107 non actual miles. The LTD in the model name has been debated over the years and is said to stand for either Luxury Trim Décor or as an abbreviation for Limited. In either case, it is said to indicate a level of prestige and exclusivity. This one presents as a mostly original survivor, a car marketed as an adult luxury car that your grandfather probably drove, but now exists as a rare remnant of big 80's steel sedans. Exterior The elegant and stately black must have sparkled in the showroom and perhaps has lost some of that luster, but remains a smart look enhanced by white pinstripes that run the shoulder line but also trim the trunk lid, hitting right angles to form a square on a very square car, the tail capped by rectangle tail lights where round ones would be out of place. Added dual exhaust on this car does expel oval tailpipes under the laser straight rear bumper while the front remains a series of squares in the headlights and eggcrate grille. A vinyl padded landau top with brushed aluminum B-pillar trim adds an 80's era boost in class and was standard unless you chose the delete option. 15-inch turbine style wheels depart from stodgy hubcaps and give this car a hint of sportiness. Condition wise, there are just a few issues. In particular the paint on the roof is substantially marred and there is a squiggly scratch/scuff on the side. That said, the metalwork is in good shape with the exception of a dented scuff on one wheel arch trim piece. Interior Gray door panels mix textured velour tops, plastic and vinyl armrests with brushed aluminum control panels, and carpeted lowers in an elaborate mix of materials that's quite fancy and all are in great shape with some minor separation on the driver's door of the vinyl from the metal switchgear plate. A good portion of the sale brochure is dedicated to interior comfort and it's here in spades with a crushed velour, couch-like gray split bench seat in front featuring multiple powered adjustments and armrests for each occupant. The back bench offers the same materials and level of comfort with access to the seat pockets ahead. A gray plastic steering wheel shows some patina and wears a center panel of woodgrain plastic, visually connecting to the instrument cluster surround which frames a wide, horizontal speedometer with the 55 circled for emphasis, in the same year Sammy Hagar would sing about his inability to maintain it. The faux wood continues across the span of the dash, taking in an AM/FM/Cassette radio and A/C controller in the center. Plush gray carpet covers the floor, truly high pile stuff, and the padded felt headliner shows some indentations but is fully intact. The entire trunk is lined in cloth covered plastic panels. Drivetrain Under the big hood, a driver quality 5.0 liter V8 with EFI and an AOD, (automatic overdrive), 4-speed automatic sending power to the Ford 8.8 in back with TracLoc. Power brakes here are configured as front disc and rear drum. Undercarriage Driver quality under here as well with a generous amount of surface rust but no apparent invasive rust is seen. A drop of oil or two on the pan and a probably pinion seal leak in the back, but knuckles are dry and no major leaks seen. Dual exhaust has |
