Vehicle Description 1987 Buick Regal Grand National For 21 years, before NASCAR started selling naming rights in 1971, its top stock-car racing championship was known as the Grand National, and the name lingered in public usage long after the series officially became the Winston Cup.  Ten years later, Darrell Waltrip raced factory-backed Buick Regals to claim back-to-back championships in 1981 and '82.  So, it was in keeping with division general manager Lloyd Reuss's thrust to move Buick's image from a maker of cushy doctors' cars to something more youthful and exciting when it unveiled the first Regal Grand National at NASCAR's 1982 Daytona 500. 9,872 title verified actual miles and very original! This car plays every part of that 9,872 miles in the form of original paint, original filler panels, a slightly tweaked great runner, close to showroom new under the hood and beyond pristine interior. Always serviced by Injection Connection in Horsham, PA and being treated to a new brake booster in 2023, new valve cover gaskets and tires in 2022, and an injector/chip upgrade along with fuel pump wire kit, cat back Hooker exhaust, a cold air intake, and Super Conductor wires in 2021. Have a closer look and fall in love with the dark knight. ***Due to modifications of the emissions control devices installed by the manufacturer, please check your local, state, and federal laws to determine if this vehicle is applicable for use on public highways in your area.***  Exterior Draped in miles deep factory applied full tuxedo black, (just black according to Buick), attire, this straight steel paneled, slightly worn but not corroded badging, and all blackened trim in place of chrome...the word menacing comes to mind. Only a few stone chips and cracking of the factory lacquer paint can be found on this black sea of darkness. We note some color loss, cracking and missing sections of the filler panels, a norm for even low mileage cars of this era.  A chip guard paint has been applied to the lower part of the body by the factory to prevent errant stones from marring this black beauty. A small spoiler hangs atop the trunk lid and blends into the sea of black. No T-tops or sunroof to break up the flawless paint on the roof. Front cowlings, air dam, and small turbo bulge on the hood just give a hint to the car's wonderful power.  15-inch chrome and black factory Grand National wheels adorn all 4 corners and are wearing staggered width raised white letter BF Goodrich tires from 2021. Black trimming surrounds the original installed glass and is in great condition. Evil draped in the guise of luxury! Interior Very clean stitched tuck and roll cloth is seen on the power drivers bucket and manual passenger seat. Gray and black Pallex cloth covers these seats with gray in the center and black on the bolsters. This pattern holds true for the back bench as well. Framing this interior are two long swinging doors that allow access to the front and back of the passenger compartment. These are paneled with gray tuck and roll fabric, a mid section of molded plastic to house the door handle and arm rest as well as a toggle mirror, power locks and power windows. The bottom of the door is bounded by black carpet which is carried throughout all the floors in this car which have a very clean black carpet. A quintessential mid 80's square and rectangle dash is housing essential gauges and is very clean. The center console houses the factory floor shifter. A like new gray steering wheel sits at the end of the column, wrapped in a protective cover, and begs for you to become one with the car.  Drivetrain A 3.8 Liter V6 intercooled turbo is factory correct and fills the engine bay splendidly. We note a cold air intake and our consignor states that an injector/chip combo was installed in 2021. This mill has electronic fuel injection, and the correct 4-speed automatic 200R4 transmission is bolted to the back. Noted als |
